Heard On Twitter
Debates rage as to whether Twitter is revolutionary or pathetic, but I do know that I learn a lot from my tweetfeed. Here are two Seattle gems I've picked up over the last few days.
1) Nirvana gets Rick Rolled. I signed onto Twitter on Sunday and was surprised to see "Kurt Cobain Is" in the Trending Topics (which, for those unaware, are the top ten phrases being used on Twitter at any given moment). I found that most people were just retweeting (regurgitating) a blog post that featured this here video:
Pretty classic.
2) There is a show tonight featuring Mr. Lif, Fresh Espresso, and Onry Ozzbourn. It is at the Rendezvous, and it just got booked yesterday afternoon. The last time I saw Mr. Lif, it was in 2005 at the Fillmore Theater in San Francisco when he was opening for Aesop Rock. (I was really into Def Jux.) He just came out with an album in April, I Heard It Today, on his own record label, Bloodbot Technical Enterprises. With such a militaristic name, you may not be surprised that he's got a song about Obama.
Also performing is Fresh Espresso, whose album Glamour is at the top of the KEXP Northwest Chart this week, and Onry Ozzborn of The Gigantics and Greyskul. It starts at 9 PM and it's only $5. Apparently only 80 people can fit into the space, but with acts with buzz this huge, I predict this is going to be a packed-out party Tuesdays aren't used to. I would check it out.
