The Buzz Around Brawley Banks
When former Fastback Kim Warnick speaks, I listen. I do this not just because I respect the hell out of her, but because she is one of the few sources I trust implicitly when she is recommending a new band to me. Girlfriend not only has sharp ears, she knows my tastes extremely well (our first major bonding was over a shared obsession with Girlschool) and wouldn't shove something on me unless she was certain I'd like it. Last week, she told me that my new favorite band would soon be Brawley Banks, a new project featuring Justin Schwartz and Jorum Young from Cobra High and original Sunnyday Real Estate/Foo Fighters drummer William Goldsmith. I missed their debut at the War Room a couple of weeks ago, but I definitely won't miss their second show at Neumo's next Wednesday, July 29. In the words of the lady W herself, "Holy shit. Think Presence by Led Zeppelin mixed with Mountain." Sure, sign me up!
