West Seattle Summerfest: Get Ready for Lots of Awesome Free Music

Mudhoney plays at 8:10 tonight

In case you forgot, the West Seattle Summerfest is happening right now, and if you don't live on the West side and have never been, it's totally worth the trek. Where else can you see the likes of Mudhoney, Mark Pickerel, Team Gina, Thee Sgt. Major III and a whole slew of other great local bands for free, all weekend long? God bless 'em, the folks at West Seattle Summerfest have managed to pull together the best music line-up of any free summer festival in Seattle two years in a row, with two stages. TWO. Suck on that, Capitol Hill!

Anyway, it all takes place at the Alaska Junction, at the corner of California Avenue SW and Alaska; festivities begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow and 11 a.m. on Sunday. Aside from the music, there's also the standard arts and crafts booths, and beer, and stuff.

You already missed some of the music, but Bloodshot country music artist Mark Pickerel (and His Praying Hands) goes on at 6 p.m. tonight, if you hurry over after work.
