Get to Know Grynch, Ra Scion and Illa J -- "You Know Me" (Remix)
Local rapper Grynch is making a good push these days to not be known strictly as, well, just a local rapper going into 2010. Even though a lot of people have fun labeling him as the King of Ballard, he's making smart moves, getting write-ups on Billboard.com, and releasing good music. I just got the word that he's re-releasing his most recent EP, Chemistry, next Tuesday, October 6 under the title Chemistry 1.5 with two new songs and two remixes. ![]()
One of those remixes you can listen to now. It's for his song, "You Know Me," which originally featured Ra Scion of Common Market/Victor Shade but now has J. Dilla's younger brother, Illa J on there as well. DJ NPhared handled the production and that's actually what stands out the most. There's a very laid back, jazzy feel to it with harps and light horns in the background. Its the type of song that lovers of good music should be able to get into regardless of if hip-hop isn't your genre of choice. As for Chemistry 1.5, it will be available at all the digital outlets (Amazon, iTunes, etc.) next week and if you want to ask Grynch about it, you can do that this Saturday when he performs at REVERB inside of the New York Fashion Academy at 4:30 p.m.
