Reggae singers Richie Spice and Spanner Banner are performing at the Columbia City Theater this evening. I don't know Spanner Banner's music at all (sorry) but Richie Spice is one of the most popular reggae singers in Jamaica right now. He's got a long list of hits that Caribbean music lovers should recognize: "World is a Cycle" "Browk Skin" "Youths Dem Cold" amongst others, and his voice is a lightning rod in itself. He's also the younger brother of Pliers from Chaka Demus and Pliers (famous for their song "Murder She Wrote") but he's definitely more talented than his older sibling.

If you never seen Spice perform before, it's worth checking out. DJ Jigsy and DJ Kuhnex will also be on hand opening up. Aside from heading the Kwassa Kwassa world dance party on Monday nights at the Triple Door, the two DJs really know their global reggae. Dway and Bobby Hustle are also opening as is DJ Element. Tickets are $25 and doors open at 8 p.m. Check out a video for Spice's "Brown Skin" below.
