I've Been Listening to Scraps and Scandal
Local punk-pop band Scraps is less than a year old, but they are snapping up followers left and right with their dirty guitar lines (a cheap-o Danelectro Silvertone rip-off is always good for that), sweet boy-girl vocals that never veer towards saccharine and brisk, bright drumming. Comprised of former and current members of the Intelligence, the Shackles, Popular Shapes and Broken Knives, you can catch Scraps at the Wildrose on November 14. On the opposite end of the spectrum, my car cassette deck-driven love affair with the voice of Patty Smyth continues. There is nothing cool or punk rock about this in any fashion, and I can't get enough of it:
