Light in the Attic Wants You to Win This Betty Davis Poster (and Buy Those Davis Releases, of Course)

The folks at Light in the Attic are justifiably geeking out about their pair of Betty Davis releases (for a Davis primer, check out Brian Barr's feature on the soul/funk diva). To mark the American debut of Davis' Nasty Gal and the first-ever release of Is It Love or Desire (free mp3 of title track), LITA talked Vincent Cook into designing the poster you see above. "I wanted to create something that was simple and iconic and reflected the more classic side of Betty (i.e. more of a Blue Note vibe rather than the heavy space-funk vibe)," Cook says in an interview on LITA's web site.

Like the two records, LITA is giving a few away right now. All you've got to do is leave your "full Betty Davis-ified name" in the comments thread, and they'll pick a favorite.

Speaking of Betty Davis, we couldn't help but notice this quote from her onetime hubby on the LITA site when we were poking around:

"If Betty were singing today she would be something like Madonna, something like Prince, only as a woman."
-- Miles Davis
