On November 17, Caffe Vita released this downloadable charity compilation called GIVE. There are thirty songs, all from local artists, and many of them are exclusive tracks you can't hear anywhere else. And it's only $7, which would be money well-spent even if100% of proceeds didn't benefit Arts Corps and local food banks. I finally got around to listening to it yesterday, and it's great. Though there are a few tracks we've heard before (The Fleet Foxes' "Mykonos" is one of these), most of the songs are new, and the ones that aren't, you probably haven't heard before. Here are some highlights:

Tilson and Head Like A Kite - "Director's Cut"

These guys should start making more music together. Anyone who hasn't heard Tilson outside the context of the Saturday Knights should skip to this track and prepare to be amazed. Speaking of which, one of the tracks the Saturday Knights recorded before going their separate ways, "Go!", is on this album as well. But "Director's Cut" is probably better. Curious? Here's a video of Tilson and HLAK mixing the track.

The Moondoggies - "Side of the Road"

For all of us who've officially burned out on Don't Be A Stranger, this song is a welcome change. And you can't get it anywhere else, because it's an exclusive.

The Maldives - "In the End"

This is actually a really wonderful song -- it's seriously becoming one of my favorite Maldives tracks -- which really makes me hope they'll release it elsewhere. Of course, if they don't, all the more reason for you to pick up this record immediately.

Fresh Espresso - "Gettin Money"

This track is heavy.
