Music in Movies on Mondays: A Fistful of Dollars
My very first record is hard to pin down. I think I was given the soundtrack to Star Wars, The Best of Ray Charles and the soundtrack to Fistful of Dollars all at the same time, because they all feel like first records to me. Not only do I still listen to all three quite regularly, I still have my original copies. Naturally, being around 7 years old and not exactly an audiophile yet, the sound they make when played is akin to what you hear when you pour milk on Rice Krispies.
I actually treasure that snap, crackle and pop; it sounds like part of the music now. However, the part that always makes my eyes water when I toss on Ennio Morricone's masterful soundtrack to FOD is the trumpet from the film's main title theme. Gets me every damn time. Video after the jump.
