Music in Movies on Mondays: Spellbound

dali.jpg
Alfred Hitchcock was always conscientious of the role that music played in his cinematic visions, as much in its absence (see Rear Window) as in its galvanizing force (hello, Psycho). My favorite, hands down, was the deployment of theremin in 1945's Spellbound. Unearthly, vaguely psychedelic creepiness doesn't get much better than this. Critical clip of the dream sequence is after the jump.
