Long Winters Release New Song and Music Video

It's been too long since the last Long Winters' album (2006's lovely Putting the Days to Bed), but it looks like the band is finally getting serious about producing new material. As part of GIVE Seattle 2009, John Roderick has recorded a music video for "Not Moving to Portland," a song the band debuted at Bumbershoot 2009.

This version is stripped down--just Roderick, guitars, sparse piano and female backing vocals--compared to the Bumbershoot performance; it also sounds more relaxed and confident. Thankfully, "Not Moving to Portland" has the same smart storytelling and swirly guitars as "Pushover," one of my favorite Long Winters' songs.
