Last Night: Seattle Shows Up En Masse for Goodie Mob, Actually Dances

• Listen, we don't listen to doo-wop anymore, do we? Motown was huge and it faded away in popularity, right? How about the funk scene? Disco anyone? Look at all the corny tv commercials with rap music, the young men's section at lame department stores, little suburban white boys with their hat to the side trying to speak the slang? How long does it take to realize it just isn't cool anymore? I could bang on a trash can lid in rhythm and start babbling and somebody would bob their head and say "That's my jam!" That doesn't make it good music... I didn't say it should be censored and banned, I'm not conservative, I just want people to have better taste in "real music". I just said people should get over it and come up with something new. It's been on the decline creatively since the riots and is just over commercialized and played out at this point. You know it's true! "I don't know what you've been told, but I've been rappin' since I'm five years old! Rip rap, rippidee-doo!"

• grown ass man? you remember tipper gore. man you sound like her. although hip hop was't her primary or only target. i kind of thought the writer was trying to be humorous, so it didn't bother me that there wasn't much about the music. but goodie mob's been around long enough you should already have an idea. i went to see grand master flash a couple of weeks ago and had a great time. i felt similarly pleased that seattleites seemed to really enjoy that show. hip hop is so much about audience response. to "concert review": don't tell me i have to give you an analysis of grand master flash's performance? geesh.

• Hey man, you piss US off with your bad taste! Screw the south! I got a Goodie Mob right here for ya! Seattle doesn't need hip hop culture anyway. Dance to something else! It's time to grow up, move on and create and popularize a new form of music. It's played out and breeds wannabe criminal, rodeo clowns acting out their ghetto fantasies at society's expense through crime, vandalism and violence. Other types of music don't seem to breed that behavior on that level. I for one wouldn't miss it. (I mean that culturally, not racially, I love black music) If you don't like our weed, our rain or understand why someone would want to ride their bike around this green paradise, why are you here? Maybe that's why nobody will talk to you at the bar? You're right, it's you. That and your eyes are red and your breath stinks...
