Danger Mouse/Sparklehorse Collaboration To Be Released This Summer
The Broken Bells record seriously underwhelmed me, but I still can't help but get a little excited for the Danger Mouse/Sparklehorse collaboration, Dark Night Of The Soul, which, after months of record label legal battles, will finally be released this summer. The album is a collection of songs written by Sparklehorse (the stage name of multi-instrumentalist Mark Linkous of Richmond, Virginia) and Danger Mouse and features an absolutely killer line-up of guest appearances by Frank Black of the Pixies, Iggy Pop, Vic Chesnutt, Julian Casablancas, Scott Spillane of Neutral Milk Hotel, Nina Persson of the Cardigans, and - wait for it - David Lynch. Yes! The last time David Lynch was in music news, it was 2001 and he was releasing a surrealist, experimental rock album called Blue Bob , featuring himself on the electric guitar. I can't wait to hear what he sounds like lending vocals to Dark Night Of The Soul, a record title that sounds right up his alley. ![]()
