A.M. Music News: The Pride of Garfield, Daria On DVD, and Kravitz Vs. the Oil Spill

-- Seattle Times: I'm way behind on this, but congratulations to Garfield High School Jazz Band, winners of NYC's Essentially Ellington Competition & Festival. It's their fourth win in a decade. Your next chance to check out the Garfield jazz program is at 6 p.m. Saturday, at South Seattle Community College's Brockey Center, where all three of the school's bands will perform.

-- NBC: Continuing a week of celebrating the re-issue of the Stones' Exile On Main St. (Tues., May 18), Keith Urban performed a rather rigid rendition of the Stones' "Tumbling Dice" on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night. Sheryl Crow will pull from the record tonight.

-- Wall Street Journal: Speaking of the Stones, Mick Jagger dropped in some new vocals on the previously un-released tracks on the Exile reissue. But Keith Richards said he didn't want to mess with things: "I didn't want to repaint the smile on the Mona Lisa."

-- Spinner: Lenny Kravitz, Ani DiFranco, and Mos Def are among the artists participating in a May 16 benefit gig for fisherman out of work due to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
