-- The Capitol Hill Block Party, currently scheduled for Friday July 23 and Saturday July 24 is angling for a third day, Sunday July 25. In an email, festival organizers, said: "The overwhelming majority of neighborhood businesses very much support another day, though a few don't. Many Capitol Hill residents do as well, but I assume many also won't. But we need to get as many residents on Capitol Hill to write in support of the 3rd day." To show support, they ask people to email them at press@capitolhillblockparty.com and perhaps pester the permitting peeps at the city, Virginia Swanson (Virginia.Swanson@Seattle.Gov), and Matt Fikse (Matt.Fikse@seattle.gov).

-- USA Today: Speaking of the Stones, Keith Richards' autobiography, Life, hits shelves on Oct. 26. No word yet on what's next for the Stones' music, though. Richards tells USA Today: "I sent a note to (drummer) Charlie Watts saying, 'Should I put an ad in a music magazine: guitar player for hire?' I've got to do something."

-- New York Times: On Pearl Jam's $79 show in Newark: "(Pear Jam's) Who-inspired guitar rock still delivers, although the alarmingly high price tag also indicates that the band -- once vehement about maintaining reasonable ticket prices -- has sacrificed some of its righteous bluster. (We all get old someday.)"

-- SPIN: Download yourself a new, free mp3 from The Melvins, "Evil New War God."
