Eddie Vedder Says Pearl Jam Has Played Their Last Gig "In A Long Time"

Laura Musselman Pearl Jam at KeyArena.
UPDATE, 8:10 p.m.: Longtime Pearl Jam publicist Nicole Vandenberg tells us in an email that it's nothing serious. "He says that at the end of all tours, because the tour has ended. The remark may have gotten a little lost in translation."
---------------
OK, so it looks like we can scratch that idea that we'd see another hometown show from Pearl Jam before their hung up the support for last year's Backspacer. According to NME, during Pearl Jam's set at Lisbon's Optimus Alive festival last night, Vedder told the audience, "Thank you for coming to our last show. Not our last ever, but our last in a long time."
There are currently no dates on the band's web site, PearlJam.com. But if they really are done promoting Backspacer (released in November September), that has got to be one the shortest -- if well-toured -- promotional pushes behind a new record of this caliber in a while. We've got a note in to PJ's camp to see if they have any further comment.
Does this make room for drummer Matt Cameron to hit the road with Soundgarden???
