Woven Bones' murky, fuzzy rock and roll sounds kinda like it was recorded underwater, so A-side "I've Gotta Get" is about as clean as this Austin three-man garage band is likely to get. There's a slight uptick in production quality that's the equivalent of shining your shoe with spit, but the song's appeal lies in its peppy surf guitar. B-side "Hey Kid" shares "I've Gotta Get"'s aesthetic and catchy pop bounce, but the tone is different: the moody guitars and plaintive refrain ("Where did we go wrong?") seep angst. Let's hope this is the first of many more Hardly Art releases.
