Is Everclear Still Worth $25 a Head? What If It's at the 350-Person Columbia City Theater?

90s alt-rock extraordinaires Everclear -- best known for their string of moody hit records off albums So Much for the Afterglow and Sparkle and Fade -- is still around, albeit with a different lineup. Bleach-blonde Art Alexakis is still fronting the band though, and on October 15 the band will hit Columbia City Theater to promote their latest album, In a Different Light, a collection of hits reworked into stripped-down, acoustic versions (the tracklist includes "Everything to Everyone," "Father of Mine," "I Will Buy You a New Life," and "Santa Monica").

The Friday night show is 21+ and will cost you $25 a pop to get in. Back in the 90s, I loved "Santa Monica" just as much as the next person, but $25 seems like an awful lot to pay for a -- I'm gonna say it -- has-been band. On the other hand...

Pro: You'll get to catch them at an intimate venue.

Con: None of the original members besides Alexakis is still in the band.

Pro: Sparkle and Fade is a great album.

Con: Who still bleaches their hair?

Pro: In Alexakis' words: "Everclear is an old school take-no-prisoners, in your face, kick-ass rock and roll band. But to really get what we are all about you HAVE to see and hear us live!"

What do you think? Worth the money or pass?
