Today Reverb Recommends You Listen to the Single Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, and Quincy Jones Recorded for Mad Men

OK, to be fair, Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, and Quincy Jones didn't actually record "Wives and Lovers" for the hit AMC drama. Sadly, Sinatra and the Count haven't been with us for some years. As it happens, the three conspired on the Burt Bacharach-penned song for the incredible album, It Might as Well Be Swing, released in 1964, making it the soundtrack for real Madison Avenue dogs of the day.

"Wives and Loves" is uncompromisingly sexist (full lyrics after the jump), appealing to stay-at-home wives, when sending their husbands off to work, to: "Comb your hair, fix your make-up," because, "Day after day,/There are girls at the office./And men will always be men."

Great tune, twisted message, and totally the kind of period drama that Mad Men perfectly encapsulates in every episode.
