Wilco's Jeff Tweedy will need his cowboy hat when the sun sets on his band's set at the Gorge for Sasquatch! 2011.
Update: 11:41 p.m.

Live Nation and Adam Zacks went to their speed dial to book Sasquatch! 2011, the first year the 10-year-old festival has stretched to four days. Save for the previously announced Foo Fighters, the top of the bill entirely comprises festival veterans, from Death Cab for Cutie and Modest Mouse to the Flaming Lips and the Decemberists. Some crossover from the previous nine festivals is to be expected, and after 10 years, there are more veteran "Sasquatch!" bands than novices. (Full lineup after the jump.)

The announcement was made Sunday night at the Showbox during the festival's launch party, which included free sets from the Thermals, Das Racist, and Mad Rad, three bands we now know are also playing the festival. Bands were unveiled in an animated short, with the crowd predictably reacting more strongly to the announcement of the lineup than to any of the three bands on stage.

Check out a slideshow from Sunday night's Sasquatch 2011 kick-off party.

If there is a "Sasquatch band," there is also a "Sasquatch! audience," and one that the festival brass know better than anyone else. It's a fact that was demonstrated several times throughout the unveiling, when fans would sometimes cheer louder for mid-level bands like Sleigh Bells and Old 97's than for the bands on the top of the bill. Zacks knows his audience, and books accordingly.

Aside from Foo Fighters--one of the biggest bands on earth--the lineup largely mirrors the philosophy of last year's fest, emphasizing a "stacked" lineup all day rather than banking on megastar closers. But the "headliners," like DCFC, Modest Mouse, and the Decemberists, bring a local feel that will certainly be more appealing to regional audiences than last year's closer Massive Attack, Ween, and My Morning Jacket, the latter of which were out for a victory lap and felt tired.

Death Cab for Cutie, on the other hand, are set to release their first new album since 2008 (when they last played Sasquatch!) in the spring, and the Decemberists topped the Billboard charts in January with their latest, The King Is Dead.

The day-by-day schedule will be announced later on Monday. There will not be a party for the announcement of the day-by-day schedule, but we promise to make it a festival affair here on Reverb. For now, only four-day-passes are on sale ($285, which includes camping); single-day tickets ($79.50) go on sale Monday, Feb. 14.
