John Roderick: Another Good Reason to Attend the Cobirds Unite/Maggie Bjorklund/Jason Dodson/ Shelby Earl Show at the Tractor Tonight

shelbyearlinbootsreddress.jpg
Put on your red dress, Shelby, 'cause J-Rod's comin' out tonight.
Maggie Bjorklund and her soon-to-drop (March 22) album, Coming Home, is one (are two?) good reason(s) to attend tonight's luxuriously stacked alt-country bill at the Tractor Tavern, with Cobirds Unite headlining. Another good reason is opener Shelby Earl, whose sooner-to-drop album comes out March 8. Burn the Boats is produced by Long Winters frontman and Reverb columnist John Roderick, and features contributions from a gaggle of accomplished local musicians, including Head & the Heart bassist/steel peddler Chris Zasche and Long Winters bassist Eric Corson.

It also features Roderick, not just as producer, but on backing vocals, most prominently on "At the Start," which is the best song on the album and an early frontrunner for best song put out by any artist in 2011. Earl tells Reverb that J-Rod will join her onstage for this track tonight at the Tractor, so add Roderick to the growing list of reasons to get your ass down to Ballard tonight.
