• Oh My....well well well. Did Chris Kornelis and I call this or WHAT? Dare I quote myself from '4 months ago' on this very site: "This band is what happens when disingenuous kids weaned on Barsuk and Sufjan adopt egregious folksy affectations without really understanding the musical and cultural lineage of the costumes they're wearing. This photo is so meticulously stuffed with rootsy paraphernalia, it is a parody of itself. It's like they went to Pickathon, took a look around and said 'Hey this rustic thing is kind of catchy' but with only the most obvious and well-worn points of reference." Since Doe Bay last year I've been telling anyone who would listen that this band is like 'Oh Brother Where Art Though' as envisioned by the cast of Glee and by the way...3.8 as a 'badge of honor' my saddlesore ass. That's like Travis Morrison getting his infamous 'O.O' cast into a bling pendant. These guys are fucking retards

• I'm no fan of Pitchfork reviews but that one nailed it. Did a better job saying what I've been trying to say for months. I'm all about Seattle beardy white-guy folk but these dudes are a paint-by-the-numbers, watered-down version of it.

• finally...someone speaks some truth about this luke warm lackluster version of the Decemberists.

• The Head and the Heart will wear a 3.8 from Pitchfork like a badge of honor, just check out their Facebook post from earlier today: "Oh no! A bad Pitchfork review! Surprise surprise... Guess we're doing something right." The love-hate dynamic with this band is so compelling to watch!
