Tonight Capitol Hill's Fred Wildlife Refuge, in conjunction with photographer Hayley Young, is offering an opportunity to see some live music, drink, eat, and bid on auction items, proceeds of which will benefit a truly worthy cause--helping out with stylist/production assistant (and Young's longtime friend) Nicole Pieratt's medical bills. Pieratt, who will turn 28 tomorrow, was diagnosed with breast cancer last December, and after two surgeries she's now in her final round of chemotherapy. All proceeds from tonight's ticket sales and auction items will benefit Pieratt.

Of the auction, Young told me, "We have an original print of Kurt Cobain from Charles Peterson, and a original print of Pearl Jam, and the book 5x1 by Lance Mercer. All of those are autographed by the photographer. We have a case of Mark Ryan wine, signed by Mark Ryan. All access tickets to City Arts Festival, a dinner for two at Purple, and a copy of Place/Date, which is the Pearl Jam book that Lance and Charles worked on together. Those are some of my favorites; there's about 33 things total."

Other silent auction items include:

  1. Some of Young's own photographs autographed by Nancy Pearl, John Roderick, and Wayne Horvitz
  2. Original artwork by Stacey Rozich, Drew Christie, and Daniel Carrillo
  3. Autographed vinyl from The Cave Singers, Campfire OK, and Damien JuradoTickets to the Pacific Northwest Ballet's opening night of Giselle
Finally, if you need more reasons to come, Pearly Gate Music, Hey Marseilles, and DJ Erika White will perform, and hors d'oeuvres and champagne will be on hand, courtesy of Purple Wine Bar & Cafe.

Young encourages even those who don't know Pieratt to attend tonight: "It's a one-of-a-kind opportunity to be treated like a fancy-pants. The music's awesome. People are going to look great. The space is a secret little gem on Capitol Hill that nobody knows about."

The event, which is 21+, begins at 6 p.m. tonight--check out all the details on brownpapertickets.com.
