A few months ago, we reported that an unreleased duet between Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, entitled "Stinking of You," had surfaced in a documentary about Love's one-time Hole bandmate, Patty Schemel, called Hit So Hard. After playing at SXSW and New York City, Hit So Hard is coming to Seattle this weekend for SIFF: Friday, May 27 at 9 p.m. at the Egyptian, and Sunday, May 29 at 4 p.m. at the Neptune (something for non-Sasquatch-goers to do!)

Of course, the Cobain/Love snippet is just a brief part of the P. David Ebersole-directed documentary--the main focus is on Washington native Schemel.

From the SIFF website:

Legendary hard-hitting drummer Patty Schemel shares the most intimate and outrageous moments in her tumultuous life as a rock star in this revealing documentary. With an unassuming Peppermint Patty-like demeanor, Schemel was thrust from small-town Washington state life into the limelight with the ever-controversial and reckless band Hole. Though Courtney Love was the band's chaotic and thereby recognizable frontwoman, Schemel was its true innovator: a female rock drummer, openly gay woman, and recovering addict once on the brink of homelessness. P. David Ebersole's documentary debut weaves through the most difficult and celebrated moments of Schemel's life at the height of the grunge era. Hit So Hard features members of Hole, Veruca Salt, the Go-Go's, Faith No More, and the Bangles to name a few, and includes never-before-seen home video capturing intimate family life with Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love, and an infant Francis Bean. This raw biographical account of one of rock's most groundbreaking women will inspire, consume, and empower you.

Tickets to the showings are $11 or $9 for SIFF members. Go see it, and let us know what you think!
