A lot went into writing your favorite song--but how much do you really know about it? This week Trevor Kelly, one piece of the boy-girl indie-pop duo He Is We delves into Tacoma, honky-tonk lyrics, and unintentionally making fun of love.

Song: "Happily Ever After"
From Album: My Forever
Release Date: Nov. 22, 2010
When it was written: The song was written probably a good year before our album release.
Where it was written: While we were working at our part-time jobs at Ted Brown Music Company in Tacoma.

Favorite line in the song: "Let me riddle you a diddy." It's just a playful honky-tonk kind of way to introduce the song and the story within itself.
Which part was the hardest to come up with? In all honesty, there was no "hardest" part to write 'cause it all came just so naturally, but if I had to choose, it would be the second verse, just for the simple fact that it had to follow the same rhyme scheme as the first verse.
Odd fact about song: Something odd about the song that fans may not know would be that the song was started out as a complete joke, country-esque song.
What was your inspiration for writing the song? The intentional meaning of the song was to poke fun at love in a very fun, cliché and sarcastic way, which is probably why we had so much fun writing it.
What is the meaning behind the song? As I mentioned, the song started off almost as a joke, but turned into something really special. The refrain "We all have a story to tell" has become a big connection with our fans. We have a story and are able to hear all of theirs on tour or via e-mail, twitter, etc. Everyone is so unique and being able to enjoy and appreciate that is a magical thing. It's amazing playing a show and having fans scream those lyrics so loud we can't even hear ourselves. It inspires us every night.

He Is We will be performing at El Corazon on June 21.
