Today Reverb Recommends Grabbing Tickets to Rhymesayers' Paramount Theatre Show

It wasn't long ago that Seattle heralded the local hip-hop takeover of the Paramount Theatre. Now, less than a year later, a different brand of underground rap gets its turn: On August 22, Rhymesayers--the Minneapolis label that's poached liberally from Seattle's hip-hop scene--brings Atmosphere's "Family Vacation Tour" to the historic venue with support from labelmates Evidence and DJ Babu (of Dilated Peoples) and Blueprint, plus likeminded Stophouse Group artist Prof.

Most notably, the show supports Atmosphere's sixth LP The Family Sign, which also happens to be their first full-length in three years (following the acclaimed When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold). After over a decade of music and ascendance to the forefront of indie hip-hop as arguably the niche's most successful and longstanding artists, the latest release sees the duo of rapper Slug and producer/DJ Ant trying to grow up--the same angst, just redirected. Uplifting Family Sign most certainly is not, but one would be hard-pressed to find something more deeply personal.

Tickets for the all-ages show run $30 (though, after convenience fees, that number balloons to $43), and all the details are available via ReignCity.

In related news: Atmosphere's Rhymesayers labelmates (and Seattleites) Grieves and Budo drop their debut with the label, Together/Apart, tomorrow, following tonight's all-ages release show at Neumos. Says label co-founder Brent "Siddiq" Sayers of Grieves:

"He's an extreme talent, and I think over the next few years, people will really start to see that. I believe that he took what he's been working on and really developed over that last couple of years, and really put that into this record. This year will definitely be a really strong breakout year for him."
