Free Mural Shows Include Fool's Gold, Seapony, and, Finally, Whalebones' CD-Release Party
KEXP and Seattle Center's just-announced series of free sets at the Mural Amphitheater (after the jump) include local favorites the Maldives (Aug. 5), Seapony (Aug. 12), and L.A. Afro-poppers Fool's Gold heading up the KEXP BBQ on Aug. 6. ![]()
Fool's Gold plays the KEXP BBQ at Seattle Center's Mural Amphitheatre on August 6.
But the show with the most distinction has to be Aug. 19's bill, where Whalebones, the Seattle dust-rock trio that's been teasing a new record for over a year, will finally unveil their selft-titled LP, to which we say: ABOUT F$%^ING TIME! The album includes "Don't Wanna Live in the City No More," the single that's received some KEXP spins over the last year, and other country-fired electric rockers. At the very least, it'll be worth raising a Pabst to the crew for birthing the sucker. They'll have B.C.'s Black Mountain, Seattle's My Goodness on the bill to celebrate with.
Aug. 5, 6 p.m., The Maldives, Hey Marseilles, Black Whales
Aug. 6, 3 p.m.-9 p.m., KEXP BBQ, Fool's Gold, Rainbow Arabia, Capsula, Virgin Islands, and Mad Rad
Aug. 12, 6 p.m., Seapony, Gold Leaves, Math and Physics Club
Aug. 19, 6 p.m., Black Mountain, My Goodness, and Whalebones
