Today Reverb Recommends Snubbing Bryan Adams' Music for Your Wedding's First Dance

Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end of wedding season, so chances are you're going to attend a ceremony this summer if you haven't already. (I've attended three so far; next month would've made four, had it not been unexpectedly called off . . . but that's another story.)

Sure, it's great to witness two people in love officially tie the knot, but guests also not-so-secretly hope that, if the couple opts to have their first dance in front of everybody, they pick a song that, well, doesn't suck. Because let's face it, even the maid of honor is bound to roll her eyes and hit the bar if the newlyweds start swaying to Bryan Adams' "Everything I Do (I Do It for You). But if the couple opts for something unique--e.g. Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic"--the crowd is bound to stick around and have something good to talk about afterward.

The lesson here: If you're getting hitched before the end of summer, do your friends and family a favor and pick a solid song for your first dance. Change your mind last-minute if you must. And lastly, don't be afraid to get creative! As one SW staffer remembered upon being prodded for wedding related musical memories: "My buddy got married a couple months ago, and when they announced the couple they played the NFL Monday Night Football theme song. Pretty awesome."
