Watch New Videos From Seattle Rap Trios The Physics And Dyme Def
Seattle's The Physics historically take a good amount of time with their releases, making sure they sound as well-balanced and glossy as they'd like--true professionals they are--but let us not forget about their sense of humor (they did pen the song "I Heart Beer"). The video for "Delusions of Grandeur" (directed by Michael Gaston, animated by Xavier Palin), from their solid sophomore album Love Is a Business is a fun watch (see above). Here we find the group in a lab (not too far off from the truth: Justo is a real-life scientist, Thig Natural works in healthcare, Monk Wordsmith is in finance), when their creation--whose name is Henderson, and who's kind of the group's mascot--escapes from the laboratory and has himself a walk in the outside world. But there are obstacles for our little green friend--oh, and it's all a cartoon!
Fellow local rap trio Dyme Def also released a video for their new BeanOne-produced single "Dizzy Izzy" this week, in which the group--who has to be the Town's most confident rap group--brags about pleasing girls, getting money, etc., with some neat new logo-bearing ski masks. Although the track doesn't venture into any new territory (I doubt their fans expect them to by now), the track is infectious, and BeanOne's production here is a win.
Meaningless fact: Each time I type out P-h-y-s-i-c-s, I hear the chorus from their song "Ready for We"; and each time I type D-y-m-e D-e-f, I hear the chorus to "D.Y.M.E.D.E.F.". See, rap helps spell out things besides a propensity for violent and misogynist behavior!
