Full Toilet's Self-Titled 7" is Just As Punk and Sludgy As You'd Expect

It's impossible to avoid Full Toilet front man Don Sheets' scatological leanings, yet few band names so succinctly nail a sound as Full Toilet does with their 7" Sub Pop debut, a 13-song long primordial, sludge filled honey bucket churning with irreverent ramblings and blunt punk angst.

Out of 13 tracks, only two crest the minute mark, making the Minutemen look like classical composers in comparison. Still, on tracks like "Who Cares About You" and "Oh Maaaaan," with mumbled, goofball lyrics piped through reverberating layers of distorted guitar and aggressive drum work, you can easily discern Sheets' dominant influence: the equally illustriously named Butthole Surfers. And with songs like "Pist Office," sounding like Tourette's Guy set to 30 seconds of Tit Pig, you don't really need to go long to get your point across. Sub Pop acutely summarizes in their brief bio of the artist:

Don Sheets is an angry young man with a short attention span. He's the singer in Full Toilet, and he doesn't get along so well with anyone, including his bandmates. Volatile and erratic. Bad personal relations. Turbulence and anger. Channeling ultimate unhappiness. Bursts of rage. Full Toilet 13-song 7". Timeless torment spews forth.

With such a bizarre and baffling intro, it's hard to say where Full Toilet will go from here. Perhaps this brisk entry into Sub Pop is a mere "song trailer" of ideas to be further fleshed--or is that flushed--out down the road?
