Visqueen played its final show at the Neptune on Saturday, November 26.

What's more rock and roll than an beautiful woman with a smoky-strong voice, wailing on the guitar, leading a super-tight band? The only thing I can think of? Doing it all in front of a packed house, while pregnant.

On a personal level, Rachel Flotard will always be a bit of a hero to me -- a strong female presence in a very male-dominated Seattle rock scene where she's always held her own. I respect her for all of her multitude of talents, and I respect her for walking away from the band when the time was right.

Rachel and Visqueen have gotten to live their rock and roll dream, and luckily we all got to revel in it with them one last time on Saturday. There was no shortage of laughter and tears, especially during the closer, "So Long," a tear-jerker no matter when you hear it. It's sad to see a band go, but at least we got to have a going away party.
