Today Reverb Recommends Catching Tom Eddy's Album Release Show at the Tractor

When last we heard from Doldrums leader and occasional Beat Connection crooner Tom Eddy, he was releasing a single recorded on a trip to Paris. "The Bread Maker's Blues" was written during a moment of homesickness on his months-long European sojourn and recorded in an old wooden stairwell. With its spare ambiance and lullaby-like structure, Erin Thompson accurately likened it to a Leonard Cohen song.

Eddy's vocals, however, would never get confused for Cohen's rasp. His dreamy delivery is more Mayer Hawthorne than Bob Dylan, but soul and folk mingle on his first EP, The Art of Escaping, released last April. Since then, he's recorded an album of new material, which he debuts tonight at the Tractor with support from Whiting Tennis and Learning Team. Things kick off at 8 p.m. and the cover charge is $6.

Listen to the aforementioned "Bread Maker's Blues" and watch a video of Eddy performing in London after the jump.
