We're Number Seven!
So soon after we lamented the state of local filmmaking, where directors announce projects that are never finished or find festival audiences, the Web site of MovieMaker magazine has announced its list of the ten best cities for realizing those celluloid dreams. No. 1 is Austin, home of Richard Linklater. And Seattle, despite not having any features at Sundance this year, is No. 7. Considering that we got schooled by such thriving metropolises as Wilmington, NC and Shreveport, LA, I'm not sure if that ranking should be a source of local pride or shame.
