WSBA Winning Authors Announced

The Washington Center for the Book's has announced the four winners of its 2008 awards. A ceremony will be held Wed., Oct. 22 at the downtown library. Washington State Book Awards, in the categories noted, will then be granted to:
Fiction Matt Ruff, Bad Monkeys
Poetry Samuel Green, The Grace of Necessity
History/Biography Coll Thrush, Native Seattle: Histories From the Crossing-Over Place
General Nonfiction David R. Montgomery, Dirt: The Erosion of Civilizations
Congrats to all. And if that last name sounds familiar, it's because UW professor Montgomery just got a MacArthur Foundation "Genius" grant. He only needs to win the Lotto now to score a trifecta.
There's also a children's book category that includes several winners, including Sherman Alexie for his The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, which already won the National Book Award.
