Another Seattle Title at Sundance
Categories: Film

In addition to Lynn Shelton's Humpday, we've now confirmed with Northwest Film Forum that local director David Russo will also have a feature at January's Sundance Film Festival in Utah. His first feature, The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle, follows years of making local shorts, most using stop-motion animation. Several have been screened at Bumbershoot, as we wrote about the guy back in 2002.
Combining both live action and animation, the project was funded by Washington FilmWorks and NWFF's Start-to-Finish program, among other sources. The cast is headlined by Natasha Lyonne (But I'm a Cheerleader, American Pie), who's not quite B-list material. Russo has his own Web site for the project, which is described thusly:
"Dory (Marshall Allman) loses his high-tech job and starts working as a night janitor. He forges an unexpected bond with a ragtag group of outcast cleaning colleagues. When strange things begin to happen to their minds and bodies, Dory discovers that they are the unwitting subjects of a misguided corporate experiment."Congrats to all, and good luck in Park City. And let's hope we'll see the movie at SIFF next year.
