Opal

Just off the phone with Andrew Leonard, half of the dynamic chef duo at the helm of Opal, a new restaurant opening tonight on Queen Anne. Along with partner Tyler Anderson, Leonard will be serving up contemporary Pacific Northwest cuisine with what sounds like a few fun, creative touches - he's most excited to plate their blue cornmeal-crusted striped bass, which he'll serve over creamy grits with (yummmm:) smoked paprika popcorn and a lobster reduction sauce.

For now, they're open for dinner Tues. - Sun., from 5 p.m. He also mentioned they'll be rustling up a cocktail hour menu soon, so stay tuned.

Opal, 2 Boston Street, 282-0142. QUEEN ANNE.
