After the Cheese Festival, Perhaps Some Duck?

OK, if you plan to head to the Seattle Cheese Festival this weekend (the sold-out seminars with locally famous chefs are underway today) and troll Pike Place Market for your new favorite cheese, maybe a lesson in Duck preparation might seem a bit, well, much.

That said, maybe it's just exactly those folks who will spend their weekend sampling nibbles of dairy goodness, who might want to sign up for another culinary treat.

Duck is a rich indulgence, but those small, many-boned creatures can be intimidating to take home to your own kitchen. If you happen to be a fan of this fowl and would like a few pointers on how to cook up your own, try Easy as Duck Soup, taught by Bon Vivant. The menu features recipes from France, China, and Thailand. 7-10 p.m. Monday, May 21. $78. Kirkland/Edmonds (specific location TBA; call for more info), 525-7537.
