Listening to NPR the other day, I heard a brief piece about Burger King changing its Fry-o-later oil in Philadelphia and NYC to trans fat free oil. Wow - a simple ban on what we know is bad for us; pretty impressive, right?

Seattle is not far behind, with a King County Board of Health proposal up for vote on July 19 that aims to ban all trans fats (hydrogenated oils) in phases, in all county venues that serve food, numbered at 10,000 in a recent P.I. story (link below).

Also part of the proposal, and possibly more controversial, is the requirement to post nutritional information for all food items on the menu.

Read more about NYC’s trials here, and here, and a local take, here.
