The King Is Dead: Michael Jackson

The beer world lost a giant yesterday. There's nothing I can say that won't be echoed around the Internet thousands of sites over. Michael Jackson was to beer what MFK Fisher was to food, only way less high hat. 

These golden days of craft beer would not be possible without the man. And though yesterday I snarked about beer nerds, Master Jackson was the one nerd who ruled them all, writing ever so simply and eloquently--and never pretentiously--about the stuff. GO HERE to read one of his last articles.

In honor of MJ, drink your favorite beer for the holiday weekend (don't forget to pour some out for his beership). I'm not talking your everyday beer--I want you to throw down, splurge on your favorite Belgian or limited addition microbrew. Anything less than 22 ounces won't cut it. Me? I've got a bottle of Gouden Carlous "Grand Cru of the Emperor" that I've been too stingy to open. I can't think of a more fitting thing to drink in MJ's honor.
