I think you need to demand a correction. (Hell, the owners of now-closed Sterling Cafe, which did it first, should be sending author Marisa Belger a lil' email). Myopic New Yorkers.

Yeah, I'll believe Wal-Mart is selling locally grown as soon as I believe their organic claim. I've lost count of how many times Wally World has been popped for selling conventionally raised fruit and veg as organic, charging the premium price,, of course. And this is with a mere handful of volunteers to act as inspectors. Does anyone really believe that Wal-Mart is going to be trustworthy in this? What's wrong w/ good old fashioned farmer's markets and eliminating the middleman? Are we in America so far removed from where and how our food is produced that we hafta buy it in a sterilized fluorescent lighted plastic wrapped linoleum

as far as i know, restaurant nora in washington, d.c. was the first certified organic restaurant. they've been around for years.
