Galaxie Espresso to Become V3

latte.jpg

Victrola Coffee Roasters is expanding its Seattle empire, gobbling up Beacon Hill's Galaxie. Galaxie Espresso, which opened two years back under local ownership on Beacon Avenue South, has always served Victrola coffee, so no change there. The place is a neighborhood favorite not just for its lattes and pre-made sandwiches, but for the "community room," which encourages neighbors to connect— and gather. Hopefully that won't change with chain ownership. (Victrola has two other locations, both on Capitol Hill.) One improvement could be longer hours. Galaxie now closes at 7 p.m. Keep an eye on this little commercial strip on Beacon Hill. The Sound Transit station is opening in less than a year, less than five blocks away.
