Villa Victoria Closes

This just in, via email:
Dear Villa Victoria Fans,There is no graceful way to close the doors of the take-out that I conceived, created and nurtured. The cute little out-of-the-way Mexican Deli I opened a year ago on October 16th was just that, cute and out-of-the-way. Whether it was arrogance, hubris, or no market research, the out-of-the-way part did not work. Our last day of business at 3829 S. Edmunds was Saturday, September 27.
I am still in business! I plan to sell directly from my catering kitchen at 4116 Rainier Ave. S where I will install the neon "TAMALES" sign. Expect emails announcing what will be featured that week — bulk items: tamales, chilaquiles, guacamole, chiles rellenos, orange wedding cookies, coffee, etc. I am booking fall and winter caterings right now. I appreciate your patronage and your enthusiastic appreciation over the last year.Thank you!

I will miss this place and its delicious wares. I was just visited Villa Victoria's take-out counter a week ago, shopping the Columbia City Farmers Market, having a beer at Lottie's, and enjoying Villa Victoria's empanadas and guacamole on Lottie's narrow patio. You'll be able to preorder items in bulk at Villa Victoria, but there will be no more hot tamales in the park, sad to say. (If you'd like to sign up to be on Naomi’s mailing list, look here.)
I just spoke to Naomi, and she explained her situation this way: "What's happening to me is a microcosm of the zeitgeist."

Thanks, Adriana, for your continued attempts to call attention to Villa Victoria's "delicious wares." Somehow the word about VV just never got out - what a loss for those who love real food.

Oh no! So sad :( You know how long I've been a doting customer and touted your magnificent and original dishes...I will order "in bulk" whenever an opportunity arises and will wait on the edge of my seat for another opportunity to order your food "just for me" :) Thanks Naomi (and thanks to your great staff), Bettina
