Bombalini at Michou In The Market

Categories: Eats report
bambaloni.jpgThis tiny take out space in the Pike Place Market (1904 Pike Place) hides a wealth of good, cheap eats for the downtown lunch set, including a wide range of sandwiches and side salads by the pound. Lesser known unless you sneak a peak at their equally tiny display window, are their breakfast items. Breakfast bowls of scrambled eggs and various seasonal toppings(always including lots of cheese) cost $3.99, and Michou serves Zeppoli (little fried doughnuts, 4 for $1.50) and Bambaloni, billed as a Tunisian beignet. What it is: a ring of fried bread somewhere between a raised doughnut and sourdough, crispy on the outside and coated in sugar ($1.50 each).
