Newborn Cantinetta
Reason #114 to support your neighborhood businesses: Trevor Greenwood's Cantinetta (N. 37th St. & Wallingford Ave.) is a week old today. He imported Brian Cartenuto to run the kitchen, with Morgan Brownlow backing him up. The restaurant sports a small menu with rich details, like the Sicilian gratin that fires on all cylinders from the addition of capers and olives. A light selction of antipasti and small small plates lead to a handful of pastas and and a few main courses. The first two pasta dishes on the menu made me smile because they covered 2 of Jonathan's Top 5 Hot-button menu items for 2009: Agnolotti (with goat cheese) and hedge hog mushrooms (with chestnuts).
