S & D Addendum: Creme de Noyaux
Chip Dennison, the operations manager at the Hi-Life in Ballard (N.W. Market St. & Russell Ave. N.W.), wrote to inform me that the bar proudly carries and uses creme de noyaux in their Pink Squirrels. Gerry Leonard, general manager of Fado Irish Pub (801 First Ave.) also wrote to let me know that his bartenders are well versed in the cocktail and stock creme de noyaux as well (also a great Wednesday quiz night). So, dear drinkers, now you know where to get squirrelly.
I also would like to rechristen the Pink Squirrel at this time, alias "Montalban," in honor of the dearly departed Ricardo Montalban. Sadly, to many Americans he was Mr. Roarke, to us geeks he will always only ever be Khan. Seeing as the Pink Squirrel is a drink as pleasing as "soft Corinthian leather*," perhaps it can enjoy a second life re-branded with a rico suave name. Peace the fork out, Senor Montalban.
* There is no such thing as Corinthian leather. Damn you, Chrysler.
