The Rob Roy: Same Old Belltown, Slightly Different Viceroy
The Viceroy isn't the Viceroy anymore! Belltown is still Belltown, sure, but the Viceroy is now The Rob Roy. The interior is the same (at least I didn't notice anything different). Only the name has been changed and was done so rather quietly a few weeks ago.
Apparently, owner Linda Derschang said the name change came about after hiring manager Tara McLaughlin (former Hideout). It's also the result of a desire to return the bar to its original intention of being a classic cocktail lounge. This, apparently, translates into something less Belltown-y. Or so one hopes! The smell of hair gel and cologne does not make a cocktail more appetizing.

How incredibly hip of you to not want something "Belltown-y" in Belltown. Some people like Barbie'd up girls and striped shirted men. Just like some people like ironic facial hair and clothes that look like they were picked out at Goodwill. And some people like walking Abercrombie catalogs. And some people like Seattle fleece and crocs with gray socks. And so on.
The beautiful thing about a bar is that no matter how much money you have or don't have or how nice or crappy your clothes, after 5 shots of tequila, you're just another slobbering drunk trying to get laid before last call.
Stick to giving us reviews of restaurants and bars we have to go try, and spare us the stereotyping and faux air of superiority.
