Artemis to Close for a While, Then Scale Back

Just received a press release from Artemis on Capitol Hill. Owners Oscar Velasco-Schmitz and Boris Gorodnitsky are announcing that they're shutting their doors from February 21 to May 15. The bistro has been busy every night I've ever been there, but apparently the turnover in the kitchen and the economic downturn have taken their toll on Artemis's business. When it reopens, the owners say they'll keep the full bar and wine list but go much more casual with the food -- details to come.

Con: The northwest slope of Capitol Hill temporarily loses a favorite date-night spot. Pro: Velasco-Schmitz and Gorodnitsky say the patio, with its stupendous sightlines, will be open in time for summer skyline-viewing parties. Best of luck to all.
