Seattle Semifinalists for the 2009 Beard Awards

The list was just released. There are two more rounds of judging before the awards are presented May 4, but here's who made it from Seattle:

Rising Star Chef of the Year: Rachel Yang, Joule

Outstanding Pastry Chef: James Miller, Cafe Besalu

Outstanding Wine & Spirits Professional: Alex Golitzin, Quilceda Creek

Oustanding Service: Canlis

Best Chef Northwest: Kevin Davis, Steelhead Diner; Matt Dillon, Corson Building; Renee Erickson, Boat Street Cafe; Mark Fuller, Spring Hill; Joseba Jiménez de Jiménez, The Harvest Vine; Taichi Kitamura, Chiso Kappo; Scott Staples, Restaurant Zoë; Ethan Stowell, Union; Jason Wilson, Crush; Maria Hines, Tilth [added later].

The finalists will be announced March 23. Congratulations to all!
