Start Practicing Your Knife Skills: Top Chef Coming to Town

• A professional chef with a real job does not try out for Top Chef! I have known six former contestants on the show and they have all been very poorly trained cooks----the show focuses on drama, not talent or skill. Anyone who is in the restaurant industry knows this.

• Brian Walczyk- exec chef at Dahlia deserves a recommendation for sure!

• Garret Melkonian. He is the Pastry Chef for the Tom Douglas empire.

• Do you think that they will let people that cooked long ago that want to try there hand at it show off there stuff?

• Apologies -- to clarify my earlier comment: I meant that a contender would be away from his/her restaurant for something more like six weeks than a few months.

• On the phone, I was told "next week," but that did seem a little last minute. I'll post details on the auditions the moment I receive the announcement. They told me that would be in a day or two. (Perhaps they meant six.)
