Start Practicing Your Knife Skills: Top Chef Coming to Town
![]() |
Yesterday afternoon I got a call from Magical Elves, the company that produces Top Chef for Bravo. They're coming to Seattle in the coming week or two to hold an open casting call for the next season of Top Chef, but wanted to know if I had any suggestions for chefs they should contact.
I told the woman I spoke to that I had no idea how any of my suggestions would screen test, since I only know them through their food, but when I thought of young, hungry, innovative chefs who could best represent Seattle, survive an elimination round in the GE Kitchen, and possibly take a few months away from their restaurants, these people came to mind:
Brian McCracken and Dana Tough, Spur
Ashley Merriman, Branzino
Johnny Zhu, last of Veil and now of Monsoon East
Rachel Yang, Joule
Jason Stoneburner, How to Cook a Wolf
Are there other exec chefs or chefs de cuisine you think I missed? Let me know. As soon as I get the press release detailing where the auditions will be held, I'll post it.
