Writers Locked in W Hotel for 72 Hours

OK, that doesn't sound that horrible. On Tuesday, Hugo House held a little soiree and send off at the W Hotel celebrating 72 Hours for writers Sherman Alexie, Pam Houston, T.M. McNally and Devin Sullivan. Where were they going? Upstairs to their separate rooms, top secret assignments in hand, to write an original work in 72 Hours. Sounds equal parts exhilarating and terrifying. Though they have little contact with the outside world, I was able to reach author Pam Houston (Sight Hound, Waltzing the Cat) for an update, in Mad LIb form:

It is hour __42__ .
I am wearing __the lucky writing socks that Heather made for me __ .
I am drinking __ emergency __ . (sic, We'll cut her some slack)
The last thing I ate was __ an avocado from Pike's market __ .
Caffeinated beverage of choice: __ latte from Stumptown(boy do I wish I had a car) __ .
I wish I would have packed __a masseuse __ .

If you know Pam, for goodness sake get her that latte, stat! This has me thinking what my "bunker food" would be, which I can only assume would be different from my death row meal, serving survival over comfort. Writers will go straight from their epic stint at the laptop to a sold out crowd at Hugo House to share their works. On Saturday, Feb 14th at 11:00am Hugo House will have a free open mic for members who also chose to take the 72 hour challenge, if you're still looking for an interesting, cheap Valentine's Day event.
